Also known as telithromycin, Ketek belongs to a group of drugs called ketolide antibiotics. Recently, this drug is linked to severe liver damage, hepatitis and death.
In January 2006, it was reported by a medical journal that three sufferers developed serious liver problems. The FDA has also issued a safety alert regarding Ketek’s relation to liver failure. To date, there has been four deaths related to the consumption of this drug.
